National Guernsey Convention kicks off in Iowa
The 2018 National Guernsey Convention is being held this week in Dubuque, Iowa, along the scenic Mississippi river. The week began Tuesday evening with the Welcome to Iowa Dinner.
On Wednesday morning, youth scholarship interviews were conducted and committee meetings officially began. Mid-morning, convention goers hopped on the bus to head to Knapps' Guernseys in Epworth, Iowa, where the Knapp family held tours, lunch and activities for youth. In addition, there was a classification demonstration, and the Knapp family conducted their Summer Hummer Tag Sale.
After the buses returned, attendees hopped on a different transport and took a cruise down the Mississippi, enjoying dinner and dancing on the river.
Tomorrow is a packed day for the Guernsey convention, as tours will be held at K-Valley Guernseys, Oak Knob Guernseys, and KHageman Guernseys. Following the tours, the annual Awards Dinner will be held to recognize the top-producing cows and herds of 2017, along with a few more distinguished honors.
