Guernseys Sell Across America at 2018 National Convention Sale
The 2018 National Guernsey Convention Sale was held Saturday, June 30th at the Five Flags Center in Dubuque, Iowa. The official average was $1,908 on live lots and over $400 on embryos.
Front, L-R: 2018 National Princess, Jamie Trotter, 2018 National Queen, Rachel Grober, Raegan Kime, Dana Sickles on the halter of the high seller, Micah and Shannon Smith, 2018 Iowa Guernsey Princess. In the box: Stanley Chupp, auctioneer, and Blaine Crosser, pedigrees.
The high seller was Ry-Sar Copper Kalina-ET, a flashy March 2017 Copper out Luckyvale Grumpy Kaz-ET EX-91, HM All-American in 2014. Kalina is backed by generations of show winners and high-producing cows, back to Lowbrook Goldfoot Conny EX-90, legendary brood cow. Kalina has also racked up the merits herself, placing 1st at NGS-Puyallup in 2017, and ranking #43(T) on the April 2018 Heifer CPI List. This complete package was consigned by Rex Ferris of Soap Lake, Washington, and purchased by Micah Smith of Lynden, Washington for $4,000.
The sale was co-managed by Guernsey Marketing Service and the Iowa Guernsey Breeders' Association. For more information, check out the August Guernsey Breeders' Journal.
Prior to the sale, STgenetics presented the American Guernsey Youth Association with an $820 donation. Front: 2018 National Princess Jamie Trotter and 2018 National Queen Rachel Grober. In the box: Josey Morris, STgenetics and Blaine Crosser.
Madison Sickles of Iowa was one of the superb AGYA leadsmen for the sale.
